Race Harness Question

I have looked into their 4pt. with their ASM. I have never been in a car with SCHROTH's 4pt. How are they? , I would imagine they are a bit more comfortable since there is less straps holding you in. I guess those could be a good choice for the rear seats.

i designed a rear seat, that turned the rear into a buckets, it was just a crazy idea... that happens when your a college student and no transportation to do anything constructive.
---im not happy with my first design, the seats need to be more like the fronts in shape and belt slits

i drew it out in about 5 minutes. i had a crazy idea of i might be able to build a 4 seat race car that was still safe for the rear passengers. but it probably wont be safe when they are in the back, because the harness bar would be in the way. That's my next task, design a roll cage(with removable harness bar) that wont be in the way and still actually function properly.( i'm going over all rules and regulations for that.)

you do realize when you are on a race course you don't have any insurance coverage. I wouldn't take anyone out on a race course

yes, i do. i don't plan on taking anyone out on the course except maybe, front passenger, even then that is iffy. I mainly just thought it was unique. i learned a moving weight, such as a person, can make a hell of a difference in lap times.

A few years ago i got the chance to drive a few times up at the Putnam Park Road Course. When ever we had a passenger in the car, course officials and the driver of the car, made sure the passenger was aware they could get hurt and it was on them if they chose to ride in the car.

Any way back on topic. I never used a 6 pt. or higher whats the benefits, does anyone prefer bolt on harnesses, or snap on mounted harnesses; whats the benefits over the other? Pull up, pull down adjustment preferences? just trying to get the best info, from those that actually use them( i haven't been in a car with a harness in 2 years)

we use the 5 point belts with a hans devise in our sportsman and pro late model. These cars have full containment seats as well. When we ran super stock we ended into the inside wall, 5 point belt and hans device the driver did not suffer any injuries, car with a new front clip and driver was back on the track the next Friday night.

I have R.J.S. 5 point racing harnesses in my Monte on both buckets and went with the camlock style.
I really like these and I find them more comfortable than a typical shoulder style that ends up rubbing on me somewhere.
They take a little more time to buckle up when you get in but these just clip in like a seat belt except 4 times instead of 1 and all points release at the same time with just a quick twist of the camlock.

I welded on mounts on my roll bar specifically for these harnesses and would not want it done any other way and I have very limited access to the back seat and there definitely will never be a passenger in the rear.
I feel to properly mount the harnesses you would need a minimum of a 4 point bar welded to the frame which means no one is sitting in back so having a back seat with a center console and speakers in the middle and their own harnesses to me would just be wasted effort and just add unwanted weight.

i agree the back seat would be a extra weight.

Next question, A bolt in harness bar. I know that a fully welding in place bar is obviously safer, but is there a extreme danger running one.
also whats the real difference between a pull up and pull down adjustment straps? they both do the same thing that i know of.

Do you have a specific brand and style of harness in mind?
