sure go ahead but remember my 81 probably shares more parts with your 85 than the 78. It's a b*st*rd child of the two designs and a real PITA trying to find parts for at times. Pix are on the profile if you wanna see the car itself.
whoops, wrong poster my bad ... sure take a picture and like I said I can followup tonight
hmmm well it seems my factory wiring manual has grown some legs and walked off to parts unknown. I hope I left in the garage (then again maybe that's a bad place - it's a mess in there it maybe AWOL for awhile)

Mkay, so my new "reverse" wiring harnass came in and I found my factory 1981 Electrical Troubleshooting Manual ... Now I see the differences. The trio plugs are the same (assuming your 81 has stereo speakers ... mono was standard) however (and gee I am not suprised) GM's wiring was color coded differently. I will make up a cross reference for the older "stereo" wiring to the 84 and up. I am going to just switch mine up
1) out of neccasity (my wiring is pretty hacked)
2) I wired my stereo up months ago (even before I removed the POS out of the dashboard) with a factory plug in harnass. When I get that all figured out ... I'll make a new thread.
With any luck the circuit locations remain the same and it's just a matter of matching up wires from one color to the other. I plan to use the 84 and up color codes and compare to the schematic in my book ... then I will go compare the two harnasses.
