OK, so I'm an idiot. Left the carb uncovered and the hood off, overnight flash rain storm, water in the intake for sure. I'm thinking I pull the plugs, blow it out with the compressor, turn over the engine without the plugs, and I'll be OK.

Any thoughts?

pull the carb and look in the intake also make sure to drain the oil

I would bump it over slowly a few times before I cranked it too.

:blam:
Only way to be sure, is tear off the top end.

I wouldn't go as far as tearing appart the top end...
Just remove your carb, and maybe your headers, and vacuum out the water from the intake and exhaust ports. If you can't vacuum, weight for a warm day, or get a heater.

Once you do start your motor, let it come to temperature, and don't be hard on it... Just go for a nice easy drive, before you really drive it hard.

Check your fluids, and your carb once you're done

When this car is done, I'm building a garage.

If the choke was closed not much water could have gotten in. I would pull the carb and check for water in the plenum. If there is then I would pull out the spark plugs and blow compressed air in-see if any water comes out. Drain oil-water will be UNDER the oil and the oil pump will suck it up.Then spray Gibbs oil or WD-40 into each cylinder and try turning the motor over. At TDC for each cylinder try blowing air in again. Then spray oil again. When you are confident there's no water in any cylinder, change your oil and fire it up. Any water in the rings or other hiding places will come out out the taipipe as white smoke (steam). I had a Pontiac 400 I THOUGHT was wraped up tight. Nor'easter blew water up into the open intake and filled several cylinders.Motor rusted stuck. I did the above procedure and gently rocked the crank back and forth until it broke loose. Sprayed oil and cranked motor over for a LONG time until it felt normal again. That sucker still runs great and is in my TA.

Really? Has nothing to due with the choke. Here's the deal. Sucked most of the water out, pulled the plugs, flooded with WD-40, turned it over several times. I'll wire and fire in the morning.

Let ya know how it turns out.

you didnt say you changed your oil!!!!!!!!

please say your going too
