Rant about terrible Florida customer service

I dont know what it is about florida but the companies down here suck!!! I have reached out to 4 different machine shops. Two had fancy websites and a “free quote” online thing. I filled them both out and got nothing. Its been a week! I called one and the guy who barely spoke english said the girl left for the day but took my info and said she will definitely call in the morning. That morning came and went. The third the guy called me back and we discussed what i had and wanted. He said he would get back to me with prices in the morning!! That was 2 days ago!!! The 4th guy acted like it was a bother to give prices so i blew him off!! Its like they dont want business down here. I see it at work also. Call for quotes and they never get back to you. I dont chase people down.

So annoying!!

It would be best to get a recommendation on a machine shop if possible. Preferably from someone you know/respect. It's easy to get shitty machine work.

Many small businesses can be that way. Its one reason they are still small. Ran into a few up here in NJ like that. One was a Ma and Pa plumbing store where Ma could not stop small talking with an employee to help me find a part. Even had to grab the part catalog and look it up myself. All the time she kept yaking to the employee. Ended up walking out in disgust and never went back there. Wonder if her chat was worth the lost sale.

When I first moved down here I'd always hear complaints from people looking to hire contractors, etc.
Same deal. They'd rather be fishing than making money.
