Rattle from under valve cover. I'm concerned

Since you have full roller rockers check the intake side of the valve covers for scuff marks and the rockers too. Also the height of you have low valve covers. I had stamped steel valve covers and at first I couldn't figure out the sound since I drove my self crazy and adjusted my roller rockers 3 to 4 times but it turned out to be the rockers rubbing the inside of the valve covers.

I replaced my valve covers to ones that would clear since I didn't want to hammer mine up to clear.

Hopefully it's something as simple as that.

hmmmmm... you may have found your aggravater by now... and if so, Right on! info is priceless, and not exactly age specific(regarding the age of a post/thread...) so here are my .02$. at buddy's place the other day, we discovered what may be a similar "condition" with mine.

we both heard the same thing... obscure little rattle... not a "tick tick tick" like a loose rocker or anything like that, but an annoying little noise just the same. thinking it may be the pcv, we removed it from the passenger side valve cover, and the noise stopped.(engine running)
we were both perplexed.
shut car off, shake it(pcv) and it rattles like a functional one should, has appears to have a normal amount of "leak" to it, so that seemed okay, swap a different one in, same thing! hmmm...
pull that one out of valve cover, annoying little rattle stops... same thing!

engine parts warm to touch, go to re-insert that pcv valve, and not getting it right in first shot... the noise started again right about the time that pcv valve sealed itself at the opening's rubber grommet.

i'm using stamped steel tall E valve covers that come with a hydroformed logo in them... and the only thing we both surmised, was that the little oil shield "inside" that valve cover must have something to do with it.

thank you for reminding me of that, as i can add that to my "to do" list for mine... i will remove that valve cover and inspect the spot welds that hold the oil shield to the roof of the valve cover... if it is what causes that annoying little noise, i'll post it for others as well so they don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water... besides! who wants to have a little piece of something rattle itself loose and then wedge itself under a roller rocker or some other bizzare occurance. and once again,

thank you so much for the reminder!!!

I actually never ended up figuring my issue out. Parked the car for the winter and put this on the back burner. I never though about that little oil shield in the valve cover. I will have to take a look at that come spring.
