Well said. I used to work for the local phone company back in the 90s. (It's all Verizon now) Before that, I would solder and heat shrink everything on a car. I hardly ever touched solder after being introduced to quality crimp tools. The pull strength was crazy when crimped right. Those connections had to stay together even in an earthquake. A car will never see that kind of pull.
I've owned my Jensen crimp set since '99 and have about 15 dies for it. I used to get a Jensen catalog but I guess they downsized. The last catalog I got was Stanley tools and it had Jensen and Wiha products in it. Some of my dies aren't from Jensen, My crimper can hold different brands of dies. Thats why I chose it over the crappy crimpers the company gave us. I like that Rennseig crimper you showed. It's similar to my Jensen but has a more comforting handle. I don't use those tools a lot. (I last used it 5 yrs ago when I had my dash apart) I do disagree with one thing you said, Crimp tools are not idiot proof! I've seen people get fired over bad crimps especially after training.
