Well I think you'd probably get more views if you post your question in a more appropriate/generic section. If you have a knowledgable Chevy guy who knows AC, he very well likely isn't reading here in the Olds section. Also, you didn't really provide accurate info on what exactly it is you currently have. You need to be more specific.

Its a 86 olds that used to be a v6, when i bought it it already had the dreaded sbc in it so im just leaving it in there for now. Looks like the ac system was completly taken out except the relays on the inner fender and the plug that goes to the accumulator. I would have to buy all the parts and hoses for the system and find out where the wires for the compresson splice in since it seems to be the only thing missing. If luck would be on my side i could put a compressor and all the components on it, hook the plugs back up and it should work, but im not completly sure its that easy

If the wiring for it is all still there and you could just plug it back in, then it should be fairly straight forward. There is not a whole lot in the Evap box to go wrong, sure, the evap core may have a leak, but you won't know until you close the system up and check it. You are right, you would have to source all of the other parts, compressor and lines, and that could get cashy, but if it is worth it to you, then it is definately a doable thing.
