Well I officially want to start a build Thread.
20220911_150455.jpg
Just to document the progress and well of course talk things through and share information. With my expierences and others. My first post was in the body section about the biggest patch panel ever. I cut out the entire floor from a cutlass stripped it down and kept the inner rockers, body mount boxes, floor extensions and the pans. Ive since cleaned and built a paint booth. Spray epoxy primer on the new floor

Im thinking about using Eastwood 2k ceramic chassis black for my top coat for the underbody, frame and inside of car. Anyways ive been working on the frame now. I sanded and wire wheeled after sandblasting. I am now working on the Body mount repair washers. I Have TRZ Solid body mounts that fit nicely on the new repaired sections

I have 3 of 4 done that are shot. Hopefully knock the last one out tonight. Then im going to temp brace rear frame horns and cut out upper and lower Torque boxes replace with Team Z boxes. Thats next. After that box up frame C channels. And tig weld 25.5 Trick chassis floor bars. So more pics to come.

Hopefully someone who has done this upper torque box stuff can give me some pointers. I left some of the old torque box behind on one side, relized it fits kind of nicely up against it.

Now I have the frame fully level on the lift. checked in multiple spots. If I level out the torque box it seams to be too high on the right side. If I re-adjust the right side so the plate steal goes with the contour of the frame its about .5⁰ out.

Maybe I should just. Knock off the rest of the original torque box weld and see If I can get this thing to sit in a little lower

I have no experience with what you’re doing or building anything to handle a fast ‘small tire car’, but I find it hard to believe that 1/2 a degree from rail to rail is going to an issue.

Regardless, I’m following. Keep the updates coming.

I Did talk to TeamZ Tech and they said that .5⁰ is nothing to worry about due to the amount of adjustment could easily counter that. So i went ahead and clamped it up to were I liked it and Tacked it in

Alright Guys its been a eventful weekend. Friday night the wire wheel on my grinder got Out of hand. Im ok but sh*t it burns.

My Cut Off wheel decided to completely take a crap Saturday night but was able to Get this side finished up and boxed in

Then Today I almost had the other side finished. Until I ran back inside into my basement to find my Hot water heater decided to rust out and starting to leak everywhere. So I had to replace my hot water heater so that ate up most my day. Ugh told the wife for fathers day I dont want anything but to be left at work with the race car :)

Race car …….. it’s taken me 3 1/2 years to convince my better half that sometimes we are happiest when I have ‘alone’ time with ‘the car’.

It gives me peace of mind and makes me a friendlier person. She finally has figured out that the other woman being 3680lbs of GM engineering is better than some other options. At least she knows where I am and what I’m doing ;)

Edit : work safe and be careful

I agree, she said they are far worse things I could be doing and spending money on. Wife likes car stuff anyways. But I dont really plan on street driving this car. I have solid body mounts. The upper and lower controls arms I have are TRZ arms with solid Hiem joints. I will be ordering a TRZ Fab 9 soon. Pro gear Coil overs, ARB etc. I do plan on tube chassis the front end. Rack and pinion, motor and mid plates. I have the Trick chassis 25.5 floor bar kit with the trans cross member and 6a and 6b foot bars. I have the set of Fiberglass doors. Just need Lexan. Plan on glass front clip and deck lid So Its probably gonna ride like a wagon. Sitting in a Kirkey seat. Just knocking ur teeth out but it will Be fast

Been super busy with Life, my Daughter turns 1 next week, so getting ready for a big party here. Ivr gotten some Alone time with RealDeal got the Donor floor fully bolted down on the frame with new body mounts. I got lower Torque boxes mocked in and leveled. Just need to be welded. Ill be starting the #1 bar and the 2A bars. Tomorrow night hopefully get those locked in and take some pictures of my Tig welds. Then Im going to clean up the frame and hit it with some Epoxy primer for now. I NEED to get started on the body. Probably just go straight to cleaning and hit it with primer so it protects from rust while I work on sections of the car body

Alright I took some time off work to get ahead on RealDeal. Starting with these floor Bars. Then for now I need to clean and get this scrap steel I call a race car in primer. Then im going to clean and prime the body as well. Then I have no more worries of flash rust. Then Ill get back on the frame to do more bars.
