So I got new bucket seats for my regal this weekend, and I have new upholstery for them as well. I'm going to re upholster them myself, but I really don't know much of what I'm doing. Can anyone who has done this before explain how to rupholster them? Removing old covers, installing new ones, and any tips? Thanks.

I have never done it. But looking back at it, it was something I could have done myself. I am sure someone will chime in who has.

If it was me I would take the seats apart. Take all the plastic trim off so I can access the hog rings holding the upholstery to the seat itsself. Then see how the old one is attached then remove the hog rings to remove old fabric. To get the new fabricom is going to be tough. I hear the beat way is to get some temperature in them to get wrinkles out and make it easier to pull over the foam backing. My upholster told me to lay my carpet in the hot sun for an hour or so to get the wrinkles out. Then make sure you pull everything tight and straight and re hogring. Put seat back together....I will be doing this myself in a year or so with a camaro I'm getting.

You will need new hogrings and a hitting tool

i have never done it either but this coming spring i will be. tobyp is who is going to let me know what i need and how to replace them. see if he chimes in. if not look him up

Hey guys,

First you need the tools which are hog ring pliers and a box of 500 hog rings, trust me you will use quite a few. Take your seats apart down to the frames and look to see how the existing rings are installed, the depth they are pushed in and also the spacing of them on the listings (cords) and the metal frame wires. I find the easiest way to remove the exitsing rings is to use wiss cutters. Cut the rings and get the seats all seperated. Only do one, leave the other as reference. Go on you tube and type in PUI Grand National Seat and it will have a few videos for you to study and use as reference as well. It takes some time, patience, and doesnt hurt to have a steam source. When you get closer to the install send me a pm if you have further questions.

Oh and BTW, buy good hog ring pliers, you will thank me for this advice.
