rear axle question

looking at buying a rear axle from a 95 s10. it has a posi with 3.42 gears. can i swap the parts into my 87 monte carlo?

You will need to get 28 spline axles also.

its a complete axle. i was hoping to take the posi,gears and axles out and swap into mine.

Axles are not the correct legnth for a gbody houseing if memory serve me correct. I tried it yrs back.

Correct. The gears and posi will work, if you get 28 spline g body axles. Although the posi will most likely be a Gov-loc and isn't thought to be the best.

what would be a better posi to used. something with 26 spline would be easy but if i could find a used rear end that i could use the parts from? maybe a camaro or trans am? on a budget. probably making around 350hp.

would a mid 80s camaro posi and axles work. they are 28 spline. not sure if axles are the same as my car
