I was just wondering what the best rear end is I can fit in my 86 cutlass without mods, I expect to me pushing about 500 HP when its done, and what the best gears are, also what the best rear end would be with extensivve mods, Thanks.

8.5" is the only bolt in one and much stronger than stock 7.5". 12 bolt & Ford 9" from existing cars require most fabrication and mods to install. Although now Moser I believe makes a bolt in 12 bolt, and a whole bunch of companies make bolt in 9"s. 8.5" is by far the cheapest and easiest strong upgrade. I am under the interpretation that the 12 bolt is the strongest option, but I am unsure whether the 9" is stronger of weaker.

Theres bolt on currie 9's in summit and jegs. Their like 1000 bux for the housing and axles though. Also some bolt on 9's ( not sure of the brand) that ive seen in ebay motors.
