I have an 84 Cutlass with 2.55 gears out back, blah. Rebuilt the motor and transmission and the only think holding me back are those highway gears. I was wondering if anyone had any experience changing the gears in the stock rear end, GM 7.5", and if so, what gear did you run? I'm thinking something like 3.23s might do the trick, enough to give me a boost 'off the line' and enough to do some cruising as well. Any part #s, pictures, videos would be appreciated. Thanks fam.

i put 3.08 in mine with posi made a huge difference. isnt much of a diff from stock but it made a change in take off

Did you put it in the stock rear end? What gear did you buy ... Richmond etc.

What engine and transmission do you have? If you're looking at any kind of power I would just save your time and money and look for an 8.5" from a gbody, a 12 bolt, or a 9 inch.
