i wanna save and buy a bolt in 9".
Moser 31 spline axles.

If i bought a ford 9" 3rd member with it what other parts would i need besides brakes?
also what kind of horsepower will these handle? i know ill never go above 700 hp max im just wondering if this will be bullet proof for me? thanks guys 🙂

First i havew to ask, what will ou be doing with the car? Unless you will be drag racing or must be able to change the rear gear ratio quickly you dont need a 9. The gm 12 bolt and 8.5in are ver strong and usually cheaper
with and rear change you will have to make sure the mount points are correct and change the drive shaft length
oh its more about the tq not the hp

bone stock ford 9 will handle 500-575 hp without blinking a eye all day long and as hard as you want .im running one in my car and have built them for friends and not one ever had a issue .if you plan it out right you can put rear disk brakes in it to !

its not that bad anymore price wise ford 9s .i seen ford 9 kits with housing and axles go cheap on ebay with gm lug pattern ready to bolt in.even on budget builds you can get a junk 3rd member for under $100.00. no need to change drive shaft lengh as long you have a 4" long yoke with a $11.00 combo u-joint and your done

thats what i thought. i can get a moser housing + axles + brakes on ebay. a ford 9" posi yok and then im done and have a good rear end to right?

i would get the houseing from QP best price i seen so far and get axles from them to .i have a set of rear disk brakes brakets if u want i can sell you for $100.00.if you go with disk let me know ill tell you what to order .as for the 3rd member you dont need a top notch unit for 700hp u can build a reg houseing to handle the power.
