Will a rear end out of an 82 camaro fit in an 85 cutlass??? how far off are the mounts or will it fit right in????

Not even close. They have completely different rear suspension designs, and F cars are much wider than G cars.

F cars do not have any mounts on the top of the differential like a G car does, and their links are 2 LCA's, a transverse panhard rod, and a torque arm that connects to the transmission tail shaft. A G car uses 2 LCA's, and 2 UCA's, splayed at a 90 degree angle and attached at the top of the diff housing which then go to the frame. I believe both the F and G cars use the same LCA's, but the rest of it is completely different.

so would it be possible to fab up some mounts and put them on the f-body axle for the UCA's???? The reason being is i have a rear end out of an 82 camaro with 3.73s and posi. Unfortunatly it was an 8.5 out of something else and modified to fit, so i was hoping to re modify it for my car. Would it be easier to modify the f-body rear or the 76 cutlass rear to fit???I could always throw the gears into the 76 cutlass rear if it was easier to make fit.

Get yourself a housing to fit the diff and axles you want to use. I suspect if you were savvy enough to undertake an axle surgury job you wouldn't have been asking about it here. More likely you be showing pictures of your already finished work. Consider the ramifications if you botch the alteration to the axle. Several possible outcomes include you crashing your car and possibly injuring yourself. Salvage the parts you want and get a proper housing.

i wouldn\t be te one doing any of the fabrictions, as i am not nearly confident in my welding skills to trust it to be perfectly road worthy, i would have my buddy do it (he is a ticketed welder and is the one who will be replacing my rear frame rails) I was just curious as to how big a job this was
Also this is an old thread in my new one you will see that one of my buddies is gunna sell me his malibu that has a rear with a set of 3 series gears (not exactly sure which untill he pulls the cover off to tell me) with a brand new in the box auburn posi. all for $300 and the car is actually in nice shape he just wants it out of his yard.
