Rear end

Will the rear end out of a 1979 Chevy Monza fit into the back of a 1984 olds cutlass supreme? I realize the Monza is only 4 bolt wheel pattern, but other then that is it wider/skinnier then the one in my car? Found one with 3:08's and a rebuilt posi for $100

IMO you would be better off finding one off a g body... Monte SS rears are usually pretty cheap although they are 7.5 & 7.625 but they do have decent gears and may be optioned with a posi.

x2! There's plenty of them out there in the $150 range too. No sense in bothering with fabrication when they can be had that cheap.

As I recall they ar a couple of inches narrower. From first hand experience they also explode very nicely.

No. I am a former monza owner too. They are quite a bit shorter and have different mounts (torque arm). Plus they are very weak.

I think the posi will work, but I seem to recall something about the gears not quite being the same. And no it's not worth it to try to use the whole thing.

I kinda remember something about that. I had trouble finding gears for mine because most they were all for 'all 7.5s except Monza'. But I forget the reason.

Thats the answer I was looking for. 8) I will keep looking around for a different gear set. looking for a set of 3:08's- 3:23's?
