60 ft. times are 1.69-1.71, would be a lot better if I had some 3.73's in it but, 3.42's are a better all around gear especially with the loose convertor i'm running
Whats it like on the freeway? Whats the cruise RPM's

wouldn't a steeper gear be better with a loose converter?

gears

With the 3.42's and the loose convertor I can go 60mph at just under 3000rpm. that \'s the highest I take it. Of course I have a very large transmission cooler too.
Yes stiffer gears would be better but would sacrafice a lot of driveability on the highway

Wow, the converter slipping must play a big part. I have 3.73:1 gears and w/ a 2500 stall converter I'm at just under 3000 at 60 MPH. I know what you mean about driveability issues!

I am wanting to put 3.73's in my car this winter and currently have a 3000 stall and 3.42's, but looking to buy a more efficent stall but yet another 3000.... think it'll suck? I dont do a ton a highway driving and theres not a lot of places I can go 120 mph or want too... I think it'll more fun around town and dont mind if my engine is turning 3300 at 60mph.

Just to add i'm running a 432 oldsbigblock 3.73 with mini spool spraying a 150 shot with 275/60/15 bfg drag radials running 1.67 60's ran a 11.70.

This year i'm shooting for 10's with my new heads and cam......with stock rear with the 3.73's, spool, and diff support cover. I might even add slicks and see what happens
