Here's the deal: my factory hitch rotted out on my 02 Silverado 2500HD, so rather than do my hokey@$$, redneck fixes that I normally do, I want a new hitch. I ordered a new, Curt Class 3 hitch of A-zon, but it doesn't have a plate for the plug to go into. They sell universal plug brackets for bolt-in plugs, but my factory one is a 1/4 turn jobbie. I've already started the return process, but I have the hitch here and it looks like a nice piece. Do I bite the bullet and make a bracket, or is there one out there with what I need? The truck certainly is no cream puff, but I know having the plug dangling would annoy the ever living shirt out of me. Need some ideas; whatcha got?

Why not either buy a used factory one off car-part.com or from someone parting out a truck? I'd imagine it's much cheaper

Doesn't anyone here have one still on a LS donor?
In fact, if one doesn't mind rummaging clutch's junk he may have snagged one off his wrecked duramax before the insurance picked it up a couple years ago and added it to the shed hoard. I know I would've in his place.

Rather than have it dangle, you could just buy a standard connector with the uscar plug on it, then just use a standard bracket. Saves wiring anyway. Curt part number 55415

Curt can suck my left nut and make the right one jealous after failing to warranty the POS they sold me last year. Them and etrailer both. I replaced it with a Reese and it's an order of magnitude stronger.

Sounds like there's more to this story.

You could say that. They claimed any weight behind the rear axle on the truck counts against tongue weight. This is not specified in their installation manual nor in any of the etrailer setup videos. Not to mention the fact that the Reese has not given the slightest iota of being overstressed. To be fair I pull heavy, but my 9000#ish trailer certainly falls south of the 15,000# rating of the hitch that failed.
