Hey guys, this is matthew here, some of you might remember my old posts about my 1978 regal with 23k miles, but anyways i have had this problem with the brakes, before i got the car started my grandpa told me the front right brake was locked up, so i jacked up the car, and every wheel spun just fine, so i thought he just didnt really know what he was talking about, so i went on and got the car running, i was about to drive it out of the garage for the first time in 25 years, and ended up doing a reverse burnout, i instantly knew the front right wheel really was locked up. so i jacked it up and sure enough it was locked up even with the car off. is there any common problems, or solutions you guys have to fix this? im assuming its the guide pins so i was going to take off the caliper, but it could be a deeper problem.

Not the only, or the most common reason, but, deterioration of the rubber portion of the brake line due to extreme age, old fluid, and disuse can cause one caliper to stay locked up after braking. While you're in there and bleeding I'd change all of those on the car.

If the car has been sitting as long as it sounds all the rubber should be changed out or over time you'll be chasing leaks and issues over and over if you drive it much...

And this includes the less visible ones like the rubber lines from the sending unit to hard fuel lines or the hard line to fuel pump. Ethanol is gonna eat that hardened dried up rubber alive.

I just went through this issue with a 37k mileage Monte Carlo. Front passenger side locked up. I only changed the calibers first because the steel line at the fitting of the rubber hose looked iffy. It wouldn't bleed so back to square one. I replaced steel lines back to proportioning valve, rubber hoses, new calibers, brake pads, rotors. Brakes are good. I'm sure it was the rubber hose on the passenger side. Good luck

yea i went to replace the rubber hose today and while i was trying to take off the nut holding it on, the brake line was so rusty that it just snapped, im trying to figure out what size i need so i can replace the line too

does anyone know what that little nut is called that connects the brake hose to the brake line? mine is completely stripped

they are called brake line fittings...if you are replacing your brake lines take a look at cunifer brake lines. Easy to work with and they do not corrode
