hey guys, we recently installed a 72 buick 350 4bbl with a turbo 350 into my 85 regal. I now need to do an exhaust setup for the car. I have the stock manifolds on it but that's about it. I was thinking about the summit kit SUM-680146. But i dot think it will get even close to the manifolds. The car also has a stock crossmember. I would rather not send the extra money on a dual hump right now. i thought since im not running headers I could get away with it. Please let me know your input guys thanks.

Well, with some fabrication you could route both of the pipes under the passenger side hump. One of the members on here did that and used a dual inlet/dual outlet catalytic converter in the stock location. Aside from the Summit kit, you would need to buy some pipe sections and do some cutting, bending, and/or welding. However you choose to approach it. Others have notched the factory crossmember but you have to be thorough about it. Just haphazardly hacking it up can weaken it and it can crack on you. You would have to reinforce it. Still though, you probably are going to need to get extra pipe to connect to your manifolds.

that's what i was thinking. im not planning on running a cat. Do you think i can snake the pipe under the crossmember? Or would it hang too low? I think i have to take a second look under the car befor ordering.

I Will be paying attention to this because I'm gonna be there after the new year. Post up you results, good luck.

its been tried to just snake it under, it hangs way too low. Your best best is an iceman double hump crossmember, do a quick search they are much cheaper than a gforce crossmember and very high quality

Hey sorry for the late update, but I didn't snake it I bought the iceman crossmember off eBay. Great quality. The summit exhaust isn't too bad 7 out of 10. Great for the money. It also really depends on your downpipes for the fitment.

My problem now is I need a carb. The 4barrel that came with the motor is missing parts for the choke. I really would like to put in an electric choke carb off a newer Buick 350. But I'm not sure which one. Also will it plug into the stock harness? I haven't hacked any wires.

Any input fellas? Thnx

I would save my money and look for a nice rebuilt one. A few years back my '77 needed a new carb and I bought a nice rebuilt one from the Internet from some carb shop in NJ. It was like brand new and still works great! I can't find his contact info but I've heard that SMI also builds great carbs from the engine & car specs you provide.

What carb do you have? If all you need are choke parts for it then just buy those parts instead of getting a whole new carb. If you have a Qjet, contact Cliff Ruggles for the parts.

As another option for you, I would be glad to help you out with a Quadrajet.

I love Buicks and can speak with knowledge about the Buick carbs, having built literally hundreds of them. A 17056244 1976 Buick 350 Quadrajet will be a good choice. It can be converted to carb mounted electric choke, will be an 800cfm capable unit and will have the Adjustable Part Throttle (cruise AFR) accessible thru the top of the air horn to dial in your gas mileage.

Shoot me an email at ken@everyday-performance if I can answer some questions or be of service.

Thanks
