remove the vinyl top off of my regal

how do i remove the vinyl top off of my regal. the top is so dry and cracked its basically coming off by its self.actually i thought there would be no paint under the vinyl top but there is and the roof isn't rusted at all.

the guy thats gonna paint my car said all he does is peel it back and scrape off all the crap and grind down the little rivet things before he sands and primers it. i might do this myself to save some money in labor from him

Scraping off the "crap" is not as easy as you make it sound. I used acetone to help scrape it clean. Also you'll need to do something with the quarter panel and roof seam that GM filled with silly putty

good call on acetone. i havent done it yet so i dont know what to expect. and im just gonna scrape it off to save some time for my paint and body guy. im takin off the top and trim pieces to save him time and save me some money. he is the one who is gonna do the filling of the gaps and body work.
