i have an 80 malibu and the dash is completely torn out. how do you remove the chrome knobs from the wiper switch and the hvac controls? my gauges are faded and ugly looking so i decided to replace them with gauge overlays from whitefacegauges.net .... awesome products by the way my gauges were getting a little bit of surface rust and were faded. happy someone makes reproduction overlays, will also modernize the look of the gauges. thanks. getting close to getting this thing back together!

Those knobs should be able to pull straight off. They can become a little stubborn, however. Usually a good tug will loosen 'em.
I agree with Jack above....pull right off. I have however found that the levers have a "tooth" to them and when removing the knobs it sometimes renders them unusable. It's almost like the teeth shear off the holding tabs within the knob when pulled off....
Does the whole lever pull out or does only the knob come off of the switch? I tugged on them pretty hard but didn't want to break anything. I guess I'll give it another try when I get home !
