HELP Removing gauge cluster

Has anyone ever tried to re finish the plastic on the gauge cluster?
Mine has a couple small scuff marks on the face and I’m debating on re finishing them like I did my tail lights

Just curious if anyone else has attempted it

Might try just going at it with the meguiars plastx and see how that looks first before taking any sand paper to it
One of our members has a video on YouTube outlining the process he used to recondition the cluster in great detail (like always 😀). I suggest going onto his channel. Hutch Hi Performance (hutchhiperf).

Good luck.

I’ve been using his videos for my tail light resto

when putting it back together you can push the speedo cable from the engine compartment through the fire wall and plug it in with out having to reach behind the cluster.. it will give you extra room and it will slide back through the firewall when you install the cluster

I am running into a similar issue. I am trying to replace the lights in the cluster. However, I cant pull it back far to disconnect any connections. I have the repair manual and it states that on some later models you have to disconnect the speedometer from the transmission to have enough room. I have an 82 cutlass supreme brougham 3.8, does anyone know how I would go ahead and disconnect the cluster? I am not sure where to look on the transmission.

If you have cruise disconnect there if not get under there and remove it from the trans.

or get someone with small hands 😊

Thank you sir! I bought my car a few months ago and I am super excited to work on it.
