i want to remove my heater but my dad doesn't ( i'm 17). last time i tried to use it it made a terrible groaning sound and i am pretty sure it doesn't work. i actually found a note in the dash from the previous owner that said fix heater blower fan hahaha. bottomline is that i'm not planning on driving it in the winter and resale value isn't a big concern of mine. i would appreciate ANY pros and cons of doing this. also if you agree with something that someone says, diddo ( i want ALL of the opinions i can get) Thanks!!!

Heaters don't cost you any performance. If anything, they act as a radiator for extra cooling. Why would you want to remove it?

REMOVING THE HEATER IS ****ING DUMB!

Yeah, most of us don't drive our cars in the winter, but it gets cool sometimes in the spring, summer, and fall.

Not to mention having a defroster sure is handy incase you get caught in the rain.

I took my 442 out last weekend, and on the way home that night, it got down to about 50*, and it sure was nice to flip the heater on to keep me from shivering.

Several years ago, I had the heater core disconnected on one of my G-bodies, summer only, and it sucked.

The blower motor costs about $15 for a new one, and takes about 5 minutes to replace.

I can't even tell you how many cars I've walked away from buying because the owner had removed the heater box.

Unless you have a dragstrip-only car trying to save weight, leave it.

If it's a summertime only "toy" then you don't need heat. Me, I need heat so I would just get a new blower and be done with it.

hey i don't blame you for wanting to take it out but think of it this way you consider everything. will you drivin it in the late fall at night? do you have another rig if you get a cold snap? now puttin that side you do get a bit more space under the hood but you will have to take the whole heater box out. just thought i would throw that out there for some food for thought!

i just figured getting rid of it would get rid of the unneeded wiring and the controls and clean up the engine bay.

lol go for it at least you thought about there kid! i did it and it does look a hell of a lot cleaner..... but i seen a few with stainless or diamond plate covering the whole and they look pretty sweet something else to put into your head

yeah i wouldnt go for those aftermarket heater delete plates. thats a waste of money. i'd make something. the diamond plate sounds kinda cool. and if anyone has done it, how much ( just a ballpark) for the non-ac setup? also, what would change in mine? wiring, hoses, controls, etc........?
