I bought my car with a fresh repaint, and he didnt have the chrome trim that goes around the bottom.has anyone just replaced it with something else?or shaved it?Tired of poeple wanting 500 for rusted trim.Any ideas on what i can do?

Are you talking about the thin bumper moldings, or the rockers that sit up higher on the doors (86-88)? If its the bumper moldings you can get some aftermarket stuff at Pep Boys. The rockers I would just keep searching. I would expect to pay around $200 for a good set.

For an 83.All the plastic chrome on the lower doors, also covering the front turn signals, rear marker.all the lower trim.200 wont even begin to get good trim around here.

First thing is the the LS was only 86-88, so you must have a regular coupe. Trim pieces for a coupe (SC I believe) are a heck of a lot cheaper. I would search Monte Carlo specific automotive websites, ebay, and layitlow.com. Layitlow is geared towards lowriders, but as most know the 4th Gen MC has a huge presence in the lowriding world. Plus 4th Gen parts usually are cheaper their (west coast/south west parts). Just check out the feedback section before buying from someone. It seams like most members on MC specific forums are from the east coast/north east and tend to price their parts/cars a whole lot higher. Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks! But i dont rem saying if it was an ls or sc.But yea been sifting through layitlow and they are grabbed up the first day usually.Been thinking about going back to f bodys anyway.

Lower door and rocker area moldings aren't plastic chrome, they're stainless steel...

Thanks for corecting me on that. So,has anyone done something else?Do they make chrome trim tape that wide?It would be easier than stainless.
