Replacement Speedo Cable for 85 SS

Anyone ever replace the stock speedo cable on an MC SS? The parts store said they can't get one for my car so I ordered a Lokar SP-1500U (cut to fit) but this thing has a screw on connector for the speedo end where the stocker is a clip on. My next stop is the dealer- anyone have another idea or know for sure where to get it?

Check AdvanceAuto. that's where I got the one for my 86 Cutty. They had several lengths in stock.

Check E-Bay or Napa..............there are two different types of cable for our Monte Cars......One piece units and two piece units....I guarantee once you find out which one you have Napa will have it...Or at least they do for my 1984 non ss Monte...BTW, I have the 1 pc unit.. 8)

my cutlass has a 2 piece the long on from dash to frame rail then like another one thats about 1 foot long to bridge from frame to transmission

The Monte cable should be a one piece. Any parts store should either carry them or be able to get them next day.

I found the 84" cable from NAPA and they are getting it for me today. The problem is that the stock cable is 94" long which is in between the two lengths that NAPA lists for my car. The one they say is correct is 84" for a 4 spd auto (SS / 200-4R?) I am concerned a bit that the new shorter one won't run through the factory cable hangers but the old one was a little bit long. Guess I'll have to wait and test fit it first- ?????

Mine was the 2 piece design also. And mine broke at the transmission on the smaller piece. The one I got, for my 86 Cutty, from Adv Auto was a Motormite Speedometer Cable, part #03160 with a 1yr warranty for $10.99. That was the 1 piece cable. I have cruise also, but it has nothing to do with my speedo cable.
