Restoring an aerocoupe

it's not an areocoup 2+2, the roof was beaten with a hammer and smoothed out with body filler to change the profile of the corner to round it off for the window. You can see the body filler added to meet the curved window.

Yeah thats true good eye, its more rounded. So you think someone did just an aerocoupe conversion on a regular grand prix? Would it be hard to go back to a notch?

I knew a guy who had 2 aerocoupes and he was the one who told me how they reformed the corner of the roof line. I would keep the front and get a new trunk lid

I wish they were round. They have various degrees of roundness. Some are rounder than others.

Its almost like they were handmade. There were 4 2+2's at a pontiac show in dallas last summer at they had 4 different deck lids.

The corner on the roof line were hand made, I wasn't joking that they used a hammer and body filler to round the corner so it's not surprising that they are not identical to each other. I was told the name of one of the companies who did the 2 + 2 modifications but I have forgotten who they were. Maybe different companies used different trunk lids

Do you have any idea the interchangeability between trunk lids or it has to be 86 grand prix

I believe from 81 to 87 the trunks are the same. Maybe the lock cover is different but the trunk lines never changed as far as I know

To find the interchangeable parts I look at this..... http://www.car-part.com/

I just do a nationwide search and the tunks from 81 and up came up so they are all the same.

Outside of the actual 2+2 parts (which seems to be specific to each 2+2) all '81-'87 body parts interchange. Even items that changed year to year (grills, lights) will fit.
