Does anyone know what size the return, non-pressure line fitting is in the power steering box on an 84 cutlass with v6?

Should be 3/8".

As far as I know it is metric thread

Ahh, I thought you meant the hose size. My bad.

I'm not sure what size it is. I know one is something like a 16mm but not sure what the other is. I just bought a GM replacement metal return hose for mine.

No worries, yea I know the nut size in 17mm, but don't know the thread size

I am looking for the same thing. Autozone and Murrays does not have what I need. They just have the hose, not the ends. I need the end that plugs into the steering box only as the pump has part of the line on it already.

I have searched AC Delco, GM parts online etc, nobody has the hard line OR the hose ends. What is the size I need for the threads?

GM part number 7833191 Still available. I just bought one last June for my car.

However, they don't come prebent like the stock line so you'll need to bend it to match.

I bought a Powercraft 80194 and it did not work. 16mm Male O-Ring x 39 1/4

NEXT!

Here is the whole story.

I think the power steering box came out of a white monte carlo SS in found in a junk yard. It is a quick ratio box with the square cover on top and round on the front. It is a LOT thicker looking than the Granny Ratio box that was in my 1980 when I go it.

The hoses that were on there fit, but I trashed them taking the engine out of the car. The power steering pressure line from a 1988 Monte Carlo fit on the pressure side, but the 16mm hose end does not fit in the return. it is too small and does not screw into anything. I still see threads so I dont think its stripped, but if the hose that I took off there belonged to a 78-81 what size would that be?
