i was doing a search few wks back what some don't do 1st. to answer the OP question NO! lol

im caught in that rock & a hard place when it comes to everything brakes ABOVE the wheels. the rock is a master cyl, brake booster & lines that are as old as the 86' ss itself. lines no problem, goin stainles mike's montes. so the hard place is how much longer can a master cly & brake booster weather more yrs vs gettin a new acdelco MC & napa rebuilt booster? was also lookin at P valves and this post convinced me wilwood way to go. FYI i'm in no means lookin for a performance system, i very happy with what the factory gave us or to convince YOU 1 way or another.
https://gbodyforum.com/threads/anyone-find-a-good-replacement-proportioning-valve.88851/ but

TODAY! had a chat with my mechanic for a big 1 last R&R. i mentioned the wilwood P valve (nothin set in stone but that post put me in 50% questioning why not reuse the old?). i aint no master mech or gonna pretend to be but what he had to say bout wilwood products shockd me cuz thought were of utmost top quality USA made? preface he been around awhile and works on anything & everything cept tranys & Qjets... lol hes also a jeep rock crawler in time off, he said bout wilwood has 3 failed master cyls trying to get 1 to work on a old like early 50s studabaker maybe late 40s? he had to find a NOS MC to get brakes to work....... YIKES! he also said his experience & fellow rock crawlers say the willwood adjustable P vavles ARE JUNK.... he says "why not just reuse what ya got?" POINT MADE!

did done a search previously and sposedly ths fits a 86 ss... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wil-260-11322/make/chevrolet/model/monte-carlo/year/1986

Yet again I have no real advice aside from what I've read: the aftermarket combination valves aren't trustworthy. Some have the wrong threads, wrong I.D. altogether, or just leak, and there's too many selling the exact same part on eBay and Amazon to get a clear view of who's making what. I've read up on these before but recently dug into it again since the one in my truck is causing problems- I'm currently switching between two stock units as I don't trust any of the aftermarket ones. I'm told they can be rebuilt but I haven't even looked for a kit.

Can the original cast iron combination valves be rebuilt? I've often wondered about that. 🤔

Here’s the thread. Didn’t go into any details but basically a before and after.

I always figured that there was no rebuild kit for them. Also, what do you do if the release valve is stuck or seized?

Sometimes they're hosed and you'd have to end up with finding another valve, or even a complete valve.
It seems like the brass ones are the newer replacement.

If you get GM ones. Strangely, I've never had a problem with the GM brass ones. But I must admit, although I've never bought a chinesium brass valve, from what I've seen/heard it could work well, or could be junk.

If you find another KH cast iron valve, you can usually salvage pieces parts that you may need to fix your original. They used them on Chryslers and Fords and other vehicles too.

I bought the brass valve for my Regal years ago from Inline Tube and it has been working well.
