Does anyone know anyone that does any polishing of aluminum valve covers or aluminum rims? could handle some shipping since buying new ones would probably cost more anyway

just go crazy with a buffing wheel.

just go slow and light until you get a feel for what the wheel is possable of doing. i once burnt the wax on a chrome rim trying to go too fast with a buffing wheel. no damage to the rim, just a bit more hassle to get the melted wax off before continuing... :blam: aluminum on the other hand should be able to just buff out once you get whatever crap off it.

I've done a little here and there. Just clean it up with whatever you prefer and get some polish and a drill. Start out by putting really light pressure and slow speed until the polish goes black. Then whip it off and see what you have done! hopefully it will come out good, you might have to make a few passes.

it's really not that tough...
depending on the level of finish you desire, it just takes some elbow grease and patience.

I've done a bunch of valve covers now, and my alloy rims.
here's a thread I wrote up a couple years ago on the polishing/refinishing of my alloy wheels.
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12962&hilit=+iroc+wheels

you can apply the same strategy on your covers for a mirror finish

i would read khans thread he made a set of camaro iroc rims beautiful...did take some time and patience though

Yea you cant hurt but if you have a aircompressir and a die grinder invest in a small set on arbors for it and a polishing wheel fir the hard to get areas your.not going to hurt the.metal ,like everyone said alot of elbow grease
