I am working on a 82 Cutlass V6 with a Rochester 210.. I seafoamed the carb, we had some hesitation issues, the seafoam corrected this, this evening we wanted to go for a cruise and got in the car, tried to start it and it wouldn't start. we let it sit for a bit and tried again and the engine bay caught fire. Luckily we were able to get it out withing a few seconds only a few hose got damaged, when tracking down what happened, I noticed the inlet to the Right of the main fuel line (when facing the car) was completely missing!! the hose ran to a purge solenoid, and then to the canister and back to the fuel tank, when we tried to start the car this inlet spewed fuel all over the place. my question is what is the fix for this? do I need a new carb? does the inlet have threads? can a inlet be adhered to the carb?

Wait so seafoam actually did something? I don't mean to derail your thread but I have some issues with my truck and a friend recommended this but I'm reluctant.

That ain't right. That hose is supposed to collect gas fumes from the float bowl, store them in the charcoal canister, then when the engine starts, send the fumes back to the intake to be burned. The other hose going to the gas tank also collects fumes, not raw fuel. There should not be pressurized fuel at that hose. FIND AND FIX!

I think that nipple should just be press fit.

I opened the top of the carb, the needle was stuck whic was causing the fuel to spill over, once i fixed the needle no more fuel. the onanid ly thing is when i opened the carb that port went to nothing, didnt even enter the fuel bowl at all, i put a tiny screwdriver in there and it went to now where, so how it extracts fumes i have no idea, i put another fitting in there with some gasket sealer for now and it seems to be working good.

It's for 3/8" hose ID, if that helps. Same setup was used on QJets, so it seems like you ought to be able to scare that piece up somewhere. Last I looked there were specialty shops on the Net carrying oddball parts for Rochester carbs.
