I'm planning on finally putting a posi rear under my Monte this spring. While I'm at it, I'm thinking about replacing the control arms with tubular ones with roto joints. Unfortunately, I will have to drive the car in the winter in NY. Does anybody know how they hold up to the salt and road grit?

keep them greased and maybe stop by a car wash weekly and give the underneath a good spray off. It may be nasty but if you spray some used oil on there after the wash it will prevent rust from happening.

Personally I would probably just replace the stock rubber bushings with new ones and maybe sometime down the road when your gbody is not your primary vehicle then go ahead and put some nice control arms with roto-joints on then.
I would not want to have to worry about maintaining $500+ in brand new control arms in a daily winter driver, especially after the winter we just had here in MI just trying to keep my daily driver clean was a chore.

Well when you put it that way, I guess expensive parts aren't the best option. So I'll do bushings. Maybe I'll just box the control arms for now to stiffen it up a little.

This is what Ramey from UMI posted on another site in an answer to the same question...

Our Roto-Joint is greasable and semi-sealed but can get some moisture in it if not serviced properly. As with anything else on the car, proper maintenance will help extend service life. Fresh, high quality grease light and often is the best defense against anything getting into the joint.
