Anyone used Safelite for a Windshield?

If you look in my sig pic, you can see the top center seal drooping.. its done.

The windshield itself isn't bad for 32 years old.. couple scratches, nicks... I wouldn't replace it, honestly, but... at $215 to have them come out and replace it with new is lower than I expected.. Ive just never used them, and am a little... (ok, a lot) picky with my car... heh

Anyone?

Nice GP! Glad you posted this. I've been procrastinating about putting a new windshield on my GN for a couple years. I've been wanting to get a new one because the tint strip across the top has basically turned brown due to age. Also, I put a new windshield ("Pilkington" brand) in my 86 El Camino seven years ago and it was more like $325, but for less than $200 if I go to safelite's facility, what am I waiting for? :) Maybe they're cheaper today because of less G-bodys? Or maybe the computer price estimate is just a come on. We'll see. Anyway, I just got the same price as you did from safelite, and I'm going to call them Tuesday to set up an installation appointment and check pricing.

Right on! I am going to do the same.

I will let that little "Being ultra picky" part slide until he gets there... heh....

First question: "Ever done a G-Body Before?" :D

I have a Safelite windshield in my Monte and I also had one installed in my 85' Regal before I sold it, I had no issues at all and both installers knew how to set the windshield depth for the molding .
You will also be amazed at how clear a new windshield is compared to an original one that you think is clear.

I have used them 2 or 3 times for my daily drivers with my glass coverage.

Clean installs but cheap glass with my experiences.

Maybe the use a lower quality for insurance claims

And, the response will be "what's a G body?" You tell them and "yeah, I've done Regals, Cutlasses, Malibus, and an El Camino...", if you're lucky!

What issues did you have that might not be an issue with other manufacturers?

And my 2015 F150 w/logo is $315.

Isn't the part that is drooping just the seal on the trim? The windshield is glued in place.
