I can only sand, for instance, rear quarter up to trunk and to the left not going up by quarter glass or roof line. I cannot do more at one time. Then I will do all cleaning, tape off, and epoxy that area.
Question is when I go forward do I scuff line of epoxy where I stopped in order to continue say up to roof or ... I hope I am explaining sufficiently. I don't think laying a tape line at epoxy edges and spraying new bare metal is a good idea. So how much do I blend new epoxy primer into old ?
Please be specific as I can't find much about this anywhere.
And thanks in advance ☺

I'm not a pro but have painted more than one car in college classes requiring quality results to pass the course. My $.02 :

You'll always want to 'scuff' anywhere new/old coats overlap.
A hard edge from a tape-line is more difficult to get smooth or blend during overlaps later unless it's on a strategic seam or body-line/edge.

Depends what your doing. Really your epoxy goes on metal then it should be followed up with 3 coats of a 2k primer of which you should cover your sanding scratches on the original finishes but not on to shiny paint that's what Scotch-Brite pads is for so you can scuff back the work area
I can only strip to bare metal small amounts at a time and don't want to leave it exposed. I will do any dings or bodywork after epoxy. Then later I will use 2k high build for getting it really straight

This is what I thought. Just wondering how much to overlap and blend if it matters. Few inches???

That would be enough. You just want to focus getting enough coverage where it's bare while not piling it up on the overlap.

Verify the timeline for recoating on anything as well. Some paints need to cure/set-up & will note a timeline for additional coats applied.

I think I am lucky here.... especially seeing what some cars looked like
