Sorry, Im relitivly new to G bodys, but have an extensive background in fabrication...

I have been looking into builds and alot of the tech advise and just want to get this streight before I start cutting and welding.
My goal is to eventually lay frame on air; not going any thing larger than 18's.
So far from what I have seen it seems all I have to do is go with a 2" drop spindle in the front, either mod a lower controle arm or buy a tubular unit for a G body or S10, weld in upper and lower purchase for the rear end and possibly notch the rear rails? (front inner fenders and large ac box having been removed already)
It seems to me alot of guys going with 20's or 22's have to do a bit of metal work to the floor pans and drive shaft tunnel to get down that low, will I be able to avoid that with the smaller rims?
My game plan was to sepperate the frame and body over the winter (I have body rust to repair and a lot of suspension bushings to replace) while the frame was out I was going to narrow the rear rails (and upper and lower trailing arms) to accomidate wider rear tires. I thought If I had to Z the frame it would be a good oppertunity to do so, but now according to what I have seen that seems unessessary correct?

Please let me know if I have missed something, Im just trying to get a game plan set in my mind before I start working on this...

U do not have to z frame to lay.....and u can lay with stock arms and lower cups on 18's but bags get very close to rubbing a arms....so I suggest aftermarket arms like ssd or mmw or build your own/modify yours.....one advantage to z'ing frame however would be clearance on trans and oil pan....they trend to rub....also on the rear, if u plan on laying out, I would do away with upper link arms and cross member since the upper bars are soooo short.
