Save it or scrap it?

It all depends on just how much you want to spend on it. And if its a rare model . if not I would scrap it according to the photos

I hate to see any g-body get cut up..... that being said, I think with the frame rail and extent of floor rot (was that a metal sign used as a patch in the one pic?), it may serve a better purpose as a parts donor....

I would also say part it out...and/or pick up a roller and use all the components to build another car.
Although we've seen worse cars with terminal rust being resurrected. You have to value your time, because you'd be devoting a lot of it bringing this car back to life structurally.

Yes that’s a metal lacquer thinner can lol. I have a frame rail already my friend races these and has a stock pile of good rear frame sections from cars he built. I am in agreement with using it as a donor car. I haven’t spent any money on it yet just been try to decide what to do. Thank you for your input it’s appreciated

Good luck whatever you decide. Just take a good overall look at what it will entail cutting out all the rust, repairing the frame rail, etc.
You have to enjoy cutting, welding, and grinding....otherwise it could be torturous. Many guys do enjoy doing it and are quite creative.

Well only 4,714 Monte SS's were made in 83.

I have to agree with the general consensus - If you want a Monte I would hang on to it and buy another (rust free) roller, driver, damaged car, then part out what you don't need. I had a super nice Monte nobody wanted cause it was a 6 cyl, would have been great car for you.

Always depends on the price and if you NEED any of those other parts. As far as a fixer upper....don't. The front body bushing support "tower" bracing (at least one of them, forgot what they officially call those things) looks like it's pretty much gone and nobody makes those new again.

I agree with 565bbchevy If it's not yours, and you're looking to buy it for parts, and you think you can pick it for a low price and use or sell the other parts, do that. But then strip and toss. All that work isn't worth it. Unless it was some sort of very rare car and had enormous sentimental value. You could spend about the same amount total in buying a car that's in 10X better shape without the issues and rust particles that get in your eyes no matter how many goggles/faceshields you use repairing that rust. (There ought to be a study on that phenomenon). Can it be fixed? Yes. Is it worth it? Only you can decide. I would decide......no.

I have the body just about ready to be pulled from the frame. My plan for now is to get it separated and weld on the good rear frame horn I got. I have been keeping my eye out for clean roller or a 6 cylinder car. I’m in northern NH rust free cars are hard to come by in these parts.
