i found a chevy 327 numbers say its off of a 1969 camaro 2 bolt main with 210 hp out of the factory. guy wants 300$ for it it has a mild cam double rolling timing kit.
my question is would this be a good buy? a good engine to build? i would like to make it a stroker.. anybody know any good kits for these engines?
thank you guys in advance for any inputs!

327 is a great motor :!: You can make a bunch of power with them but, in my opinion, they are more of a conversation piece. There just were not a ton of them made and plus they have the sought after, ideal rod-stroke ratio.

$300 for a complete 327ci SBC is not bad at all

It's an okay deal... But in my opinion unless you get the 67 and earlier model they have the smaller 2 inch journals instead of the 2.10 inch standard SBC journals. Not that they really make any difference in a street motor but they're cooler and more disireable. Otherwise I don't see any point to a 327 when you can get a 4 bolt 350 core to rebuild or even a 400 for the same kind of money and make more power.

Yes..... The 327 was a good engine. However, the 350 with the same equipment has more low end grunt.
(No replacement for displacement).
If you had a light car, the 327 would be a good engine to build...they rev! Funny, I've never blown up a 2 bolt main smallblock, but I've blown up a few 4 bolt main smallblocks!.
I was working for a local Chevy dealer in R.I., when the Z/28 (302 cubes) first came out. I took it out for a test ride.....it screwed! It had solid lifters and (I think)12 to 1 compression with a 4 barrel carb.
Then, another "Z" came in, about a year later.... it really screwed!
It had two 4 barrels on a cross ram!
