Went to the track Saturday and had the V-belt come out two times, the last time we couldn't find it and it ended our night. I am currently running a stock V-belt system only running water pump and alternator. We had the belt as tight as we could get ( I know that's a no no) but it still came off. Reason is the crank pully is slightly bent and I want to go aftermarket or atleast something different than the v-belt Looking at a new front belt/pully setup, called Billet Specialties today and they pointed me to this:

That setup comes with the three pulleys, alternator fan, and the alternator bracket. The $300 price tag seems steep but I will buy if the product will work.

Post up your system; I'm open to other suggestions also.

Thanks Cory

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system

if your looking to go with like a 6 groove or whatever you can actually get stock GM pulleys.

the TBI motors came with a sepertine set up. Grab the waterpump, crank and alt pulleys. I was running that on my old motor set up and it was good.

If the crank pulley is bent im sure someone has a crank pulley laying around they can give you or for cheap.

BTW i aint got no pics. im running a mandrel drive set up and yes i am using V belts

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system

Not to jack your thread: But Im kinda looking for a 5-6 groove pulley set up myself for my 350 motor, not polished/aluminum, GM stock pulleys.. I want the water/alternator/crank with power steering grove v belt set-up..i heard u can get them off 80's montes/camaros?

GhettoRacingKid: do u know where we can find them>? cash in hand...

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system

I dont have my old set up any more. sold it with the motor.

I believe any SBC from like 87 and up has the serp setup. If I remember it was the way you wanted it. v for the ps and serp for the rest. Let me see if I can find pics.

@80elco... I just posted it to instragram for you. thats from an 88 suburban. the ps was vbelt and what you see is what was on there. Im sure you can hit up a local junk yard

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system

I would use the stock serp setup, but looks so much cleaner without the extra vbelt groves in the crank pully. What is everyone using?

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system

Well thats my current set up above... notice the washers and crap. that was for mock up. I have the proper spacers and bolt sizes.

I always liked the stock serp setups.

Re: SBC Belt/Pully system

Does the electric water pump require a larger alternator to run with light on/fuel pump and everything that takes power? Wouldn't mind switching to electric water pump but want to keep the car driveable, not want to worry about pump going out.
