I am working on installing a Super T10 behind a SBC in my Malibu and I've ran into a bit of an issue. I need about 0.25" more space between my clutch pressure plate fingers and my hydraulic throw out bearing. My setup is:
- two piece main rear SBC
- GM 3973456 N flywheel - Measured thickness from crank mounting flange to friction surface = 0.97"
- McLeod RST Twin Disc 6911-07
- Howe Throwout Bearing 82870
- 79 F body Super T10
- GM 464697 Bellhousing
Considering all my options, I am pretty sure I need to look into a 'thinner' flywheel or reduced height throwout bearing. The Howe piece I have is 1.688". There is also Howe 82876 which is listed for T5 and compressed height on it is 1.513".
Does anyone have real world knowledge on 'thinner' flywheels or Howe throwout bearings ?
I can't find any 'thickness' info on McLeod 460122, their tech support didn't t back to my inquiry.
RAM 1501 is .850" and 1501LW is .735"
