CamaroAdam73, what is the application for your headers?

Hey guys, the headers i have now are P/N 3901HKR . When i do a search for headers for an 86 olds cutlass with an "OLDSMOBILE V8" 350 rocket selected, these come up. If they'll fit an 86 cutlass with an olds V8, why won't they fit an 88 MCSS with an olds V8? lol
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-3 ... el/cutlass

The application list for those headers show they fit the A body Cutlass(77 and older).

Whoops sorry it took me years to get back on here, i wasn't paying attention to the filters on summit, they will fit a monte carlo that isn't a gbody lol 😛 . I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy a new set.

Now the question is, go with shortys and keep the original exhaust that i have on the car, or notch the crossmember (peice of cake actually) and get full length and truel duel.

Price for Price it's no more than an extra 60$ for the full length setup, because the shorty headers are actually 45$ more than the full length set.

Man i really need to pay better attention to the filters on websites. So i guess none of the headers i was looking at will fit a gbody. :blam:

Summit only lists two sets of headers for a small block oldsmobile 350/403 in a gbody, and the price options are either 500, or 700$, Really? This is going to kill the budget, i'd rather use exhaust manifold than sit this one out for another year. If these really are the only two options, wouldn't i at least be able to run a set of shorty headers and route the exhaust in respect to clearances ?

If anybody knows where i can nab a used set for a nice price i'll jump on it.

CamaroAdam73, you are very bad at searching.

Yepp lol. Luckily people on here are cool enough to help my computer illiterate *ss.
Anyways, there's a decent looking set of hedmans for 205$ ball and socket flange too. I also found an exhaust system "kit" while i was on there, gotta shoot summit a call today to get a better scoop on it.

Check it out

Originally i wanted to keep my 2 1/4 so reuse from in front of the axle back, and cut the cross-member to run true duel. I wonder if i'll still have to cut the cross-member with that kit, i don't see how it would route to the back if i didn't. for 200$ it seems like a great deal, i'll have allot of it welded together, i feel like clamps leave small leaks 50% of the time.

You should always notch the crossmember if running true duals otherwise the pipe on the drivers side will be hanging down too low and it could ( probably will eventually ) hit the ground. I don't know anything about that Summit kit, but it looks decent enough to do the job.

I called summitracing and they said there might be some modification needed, which i expected. If there was a kit online for a good price that was "bolt straight in no mods needed" i think we'd all own one lol. But yeah i'm totally happy with it, 205$ + free shipping for the entire exhaust system? not shabby at all.

Eh, the guy at summit has me thinking now. Either notch out my crossmember or just buy this one

It'll still end up running me about 50$ to notch mine, the car is housed 30 miles away so i have to go get the thing, do the cutting buy the metal than pay my friend to weld it in, then paint.

I did consider getting the after market one just so i could use the factory member elseware as added support to the frame lol. Anybody ever went this route? It looks to me like there might be somewhere near the very front of the rails to mount it.
