Looks like old Eddie secured his funding at the last minute. Now they have until January 4 to determine whether Eddie is a "qualified bidder" or otherwise accept bids from liquidators.

Does it really matter at this point. Just saw the new list of closings & list the West View Plaza Kmart & Greensburg Mall Sears near us & the Altoona Sears.

I hate that West View K-Mart, it is such a dump. I've been hoping for it to close for years.

The only bad in all this is the 68,000 jobs in the balance. It sounds like the bid will ultimately be turned down.

Agreed. Lampert is the guy I hold most responsible for Sears’ mismanagement and decline. Just an out-of-touch empty suit that kept cutting and gutting, instead of making badly needed investments into the stores and logistics operations.

Toward the end, the appliance salespeople had iPad-like tablets for sales, but it reeked of a desperate last-ditch effort to look hip and high-tech while the ship was sinking.
