Sending Unit

My gas tank has sprung a leak so I'll be changing it again. The sending unit is not working properly. I have a new Autometer gauge so I don't think that would cause the problem of running out of fuel with almost 1/4 showing on the gauge. I'll check the sending unit when it is out but if the sending unit is defective can it be fixed or should I just buy a new one. That is if new ones are available..

sending units can be refurbished. there is a shop in ny that specializes in that. I may send my wagon unit to them to be redone if that ends up being my gauge issue. if you have a 2 door there is new sending units available. I am pretty sure elco units are still made also.
