Story: During The Summer of 2007, I Went to Australia with People To People Ambassador Programs and after seeing all of the Utes, the fire to have an El Camino was lit once again. My grandfather and my father broke down one day while i was in Australia and went to a shop that had a 1987 Chevy El Camino sitting outside in the back. My grandfather asked if it was for sale and was told the owner was not at the shop and would return tomorroow. He took the guys number and told me about the Elky when i returned home 3 days later. i called the guy to make sure he was home. i drove 45 mins away from my house to see the elky and hopefully make it mine. when i arrived at the shop i seen the el camino just sitting there looking sad waiting for a new owner. the body was not in great shape, but it was a great car to start with! I asked the owner if it was for sale and his answer was, "They are all for sale," i looked at him with a confused look and asked "they?" He said yeah all FOUR El Caminos are for sale. When i asked him how much he said $1000.00 for ALL FOUR! My Eyes lit up! Wow FOUR El Caminos! So I went back and looked at the 1987, the body was rough but frame was in good condition minus some rot that could be patched. then i seen the 1980 (i instantly fell in love with the front header panel) the body was in great condition but the frame was rotted and could not be repaired. the other two were sitting in the grass up to thier roofs and were not salvageable. so i talked to my dad about it and made the decision. i was going to be the owner of 4 Chevy El Caminos! i went back to the guy and told him i am very interested and that i had $200.00 and if he would take it as a down payment. the guy said sure will and that i was lucky because he had a guy on his way to come and look at them that day also. i worked my butt off to come up with the rest of the $800.00. the PO was a great guy and allowed me to make monthly payments and it took me 7 months to pay the balance off. I Brought them home in Winter of 07. i was allowed to take cars, but he retained titles until balance was paid off. that was the deal we worked out. to end a long story short i took the front header panel, fenders and doors off the 1980 and put them on the 1987 to create my dream elky! My entire family helped me recondition the car. they supplied the parts as a graduation present when i graduated in 2008, i drove my El Camino to graduation and laid rubber in the parking lot in front of the priniciple and the town cop after graduation! it was a graduation to remember! I thank My Entire Family for what they did to make my Elky What it is today! I currently installed a 355 SBC and a 4 speed Sag. transmission. The Motor And Trans was supplied by me. My El Camino is truly my dream car as i have dreamed of owning one since i was a kid and now i have one that is still in the works but turns heads where ever it goes! Enjoy the Pics And The Story.
