Serpentine Conversion Kits

Save your money on buying a kit, I pulled mine off of a suburban('89 I think) there are others that will work, it has been discussed somewhere here just search it out.

As for the kit "not working", it is most likely because all of the holes are not drilled and tapped in the heads. I am running mine one bolt short on one side or another(maybe both sides). I did the same on my s-10 blazer conversion years ago without any issues.

FYI
A j/y serpentine setup including a/c pump, alt, and pulleys was around $100.....big savings

You won't need a template, the bolt locations are the same in all SBC heads (except maybe LT1/LT4 but I'm pretty sure those are the same too). Your best bet will likely be off a 4.3L truck engine. You'll need to make sure to get a reverse rotation water pump & the matching fan as well. Much cheaper than an aftermarket kit if you're not looking to spend a lot of money.

Always clean and CHECK the aluminum brackets for stress cracks! Used or new, believe it or not. For some reason, these brackets are prone to cracking, especially when used without the bracing.

And for some reason, many of the new off-the shelf GM NOS brackets are sent back because of cracks! I know of some instances where people bought the whole kit for future use, only to open the box a few years later and find that the aluminum brackets had flaws and/or cracks!

what conversion kit do you have? i have the bracket for a march serpentine belt conversion to make up for them holes not being there just sitting around, i bought it thinking i needed it, i was wrong, never used it just opened it to look at it

hmm, the kit i have pretty much just hooks to the water pump bolts if im correct id have to look at it again havnt seen my car in a month or so haha. my alt, hooks to my pass side head. thats what that spare braket i have is for it mounts it to the water pump or something i think
