My friend, GM mechanic from the 80's says my 305 feels low on power from the way he remembers them(the room breaks out in laughter, tears streaming down their faces!). He says the secondaries felt lazy.
Today I tweaked the sec. flap tension spring looser 2 turns : no bog at WOT - I think I know where the power went to.(PS . see my post on brake problems)
Is it possible a previous owner wanted to disable the secondaries to gain fuel mileage?

you should never turn the adjustment 2 turns. I adjust it by 1/8 turn until it's good and the factory setting is 1/2 to 3/4 turn tension on the spring. I would use the factor y setting and adjust it from there. You can't lock out the secondaries by over tightening the spring but you will cause a major bog

Thanks for the info. I was only playing with it to try and experience this 'bog' people complain about.

Heavy foot and little self control.
Remove the primary to secondary link?

The springs were 2 1/2 turns tight from the P.O. I have yet to test drive the 3/4 screw turn tension
