Has anyone used the Bilstein street stock shocks, part number AK1043 or AK1051. These have linear valving are not the self adjusting gas shock type. I'm running Afco shocks and came across these Bilstein shocks which are a few more $$$ than the Afco shocks. Both brands of shocks have the same rating for travel per second. The Bilstein shocks do give a shorter shock which I'm thinking about to match the lowered suspension I have. I had my Afco's out to change the springs and it looks like I've bottomed the shocks out so I was going to get some new ones and put extensions to drop the body of the shock lower. With the Bilstein shorter shocks I wouldn't have to do that.

I'm running HD Bilsteins.I'ld have to look to see what the part number is though.

thanks but the HD shocks are the self adjusting style. I like the linear valved shocks. That's a nice lower control arm you have

the springs control the ride height not the shocks....as for linear shocks they react the same no matter what road your on. The problem I have with self adjusting shocks is they only react to what has already occurred so they are adjusting after the fact. I want a solid consistent feel and that's why I I use constant rate springs and linear valved shocks.

I had the linear bilstein on a 98 3 series and have advocated for that part ever since. I also had the HD's on a silverado and they were good, but I wasnt nearly as impressed. Nothing comes close to a linear bilstein shock, nothing.

thank you, nothing like a real test. I'll order a set tomorrow... 🙂

I have heard nothing but GREAT things about bilstein shocks, no matter what shock it is for that matter...Keep us posted though about your new ones. As for me though, next year I'm going with Lakewood 90/10 up front and 60/40 out back, and Moroso trick springs oan all 4 crns.....

I'll let you know, I would have stayed with the afco shocks but the bilsteins have the same travel rate and come in a shorter size so I'll try them out.
