Here's an idea for those folks that hate having a light hanging under the car so they can see what the heck they're doing. I got on eBay and found some LED strips with the highest rated Lumens I could find. The strips usually have a self adhesive backing. I also purchased a roll of magnet tape and attached two rows of the LED strips to each piece of magnet strip. I made two complete strips, enough to do both sides of my lift. I also purchased a couple of power supply's. It doesn't take much to run these lights (12 volt) using the power supply's.

Even if you don't have a lift, you can attach these lights to any metal surface and basically have uninterrupted light not hanging in your way all the time. I think I have just under a hundred bucks in all this but I bought extra for other projects. The lights are LED, they're waterproof and don't put out any heat to speak of. Even if a person was to just lay them on the floor facing the bottom of the car up on jack stands, this is more than enough light to work by.

Hey Scott,
That's a pretty clever idea. You could never have too much light while working underneath a car. Plus as you pointed out, LED's use very little power. Nice clean well equipped shop, BTW.

and I even see what looks to be a beer fridge, one of the most important pieces of equipment in the shop....

Thanks Guys,

I wasn't trying to show off my shop but thanks. Just thought the lights worked well for me, they might work well for someone else. Some of the nicest cars I've ever seen built were done so in a modest two car garage. I made a pact with my wife on the last new house; Honey, you can have whatever size house you want, but whatever the square footage, will be the same in my shop. The house is 2,500 the shop is 2,400. There really is a logical solution to most complicated marriage issues.

Yes, the fridge is one of the good cold ones to keep the cold ones good and cold. ...
