I checked a 84 Cutlass Supreme, 70 K miles, supposedly never driven in the winter. Frame appeared solid although some rust was bleeding through the oil coat.
On both aluminum door sills, the area where the feet would pass over, had a 1/8" wide, 12" long, white dust strip(tasted a little like salt) right where the carpet and plate meet. I was wondering if the aluminum was oxydizing and bonding with the carpet?
