Slack in Floor shifter

Had some floor shifter brackets welded to the car. Installed the shifter and the console....now when I put it in 1st gear, it hits the console almost stopping it from going into 1st. And when it's in park, its in the right spot. What would have changed? I even tried to put spacers on the rear to bring it up above the console.....still hits the console.

Also while in neutral, I have alot of slack...seems like a couple inches before it hits the next gear

how did you adjust cable? Should put trans in neutral to adjust and tighten cable

I haven't adjusted it yet....might try it tomorrow

I recommend getting an extra hand. its a little bit of a pain to do solo.
