Hi all,
Looking to rid my 85 of all the smog crap, (doesn't need to pass a smog test where I live), and just looking for any advice/suggestions. Car has a mild 350 and I plan to go to headers, new intake and carb. Any suggestions? Advice? Pitfalls I need to be aware of? Carb/intake/header brand or combo ideas?

Thanks!

If it is still computer controlled, you will need a different distributor too. I haven't ran a sbc in years but a Qjet set up for your motor, is tough to beat. A later non CCC off a 350 from a truck should be close. If you want brand new carb, the new Street Demon, based off the Thermoquad, looks very nice. An Weiand Street Warrior intake would go nice with either carb with non Vortec heads. I wouldn't get Flowtech headers, thin flange, ceramic peels and rust quickly. Also their fit is not the greatest, supposedly. Hooker or Hedman are better header's. Get them with 3/8" flange if possible and 1 5/8" primary tube max to retain low end torque.

A search on this ( or similar ) forum will answer all of your questions as it's been brought up numerous times before.
