So I started a hunt for a 200-4r today. Got some questions.

It bothers me that the pan was off the trans from the MCSS but that would be the best core to get for a high performance 200-4r bar none.

You think its worth the risk nabbing that one?

If you are going to have it rebuilt for a performance application anyway.. yep.

you want a GN, SS or 442 trans, in that order, for best performance. you may have to change the speedo gear to match your rear end ratio.

Did they make different performance transmissions for different cars???

I know a guy who claims to have a 200-4r out of an 85 cutlass. Did they come in cutlass' then?

There was an regular 85 cutlass at the yard that had a 200-4r in it, looking back. I still dont know why it only had P RND21 though.

I wonder if it could have been swapped in and they didn't change the indicator in the dash.

Does anyone know if a 200-4r is connected to the cars computer in any way? Would there be any issues installing this transmission in a non-computer controlled car? (sorry if this is a stupid question)

if you install the 200-4r into a non-computer car, you need to rig a way or buy the kit to lock up the torque converter. if not you'll be sorry

What am i exactly looking for, and how to get these out?

The valve body and governor are a set so you will need them both if you take the trans you found. Is the VB still there or has someone beaten you to it?

Again, What exactly am i looking for, and how to get them out? I have a repair manual for a regal, so a more technical term for it might help for me to look it up.

you need to buy a torque converter lock up kit. look up part # TCI 376600 in the summit racing catalog online and you will see what i mean.

trans

why will you be sorry if you don't hook up the tcc?
